Monday March 2nd, 2015
After a long drawn-out legal battle initiated by the State of Louisiana in an attempt to further delay justice, Albert Woodfox will be before the Federal Court on Monday March 2, 2015 applying for bail. It is expected that the State of Louisiana will contest bail based on jurisdictional contentions BUT it is also possible that Albert Woodfox could be granted freedom and come home on this day after 43(plus) years of wrongful conviction under the extremely punitive measures of solitary confinement.
Albert is the only remaining member of the Angola 3 left in prison. Both Robert King and Herman Wallace have experienced their freedom. Marred with discrimination, Albert’s conviction has been overturned three times citing multiple constitutional violations. The State of Louisiana under the stewardship of Attorney General James “Buddy” Caldwell has continued to delay justice and appeal the decisions of the high court costing Louisiana tax payers tens-of-thousands (possibly hundreds-of-thousands) of dollars in State initiated legal fees.
Enough is enough! Albert is closer to freedom then ever before during his four decades of wrongful conviction.
